FOR RELEASE:
January 7, 2004
BARDSTOWN, KY--Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., producers of Burnett's Gin, Burnett's Vodka and the line of Burnett's Flavored Vodkas, has announced the addition of two new flavored vodka varieties to the brand's current line up. With the addition of Burnett's Lime and Burnett's Cranberry Flavored Vodkas to the existing range, Burnett's will now offer 8 of the most popular flavors, including Citrus, Orange, Raspberry, Vanilla, Sour Apple and Coconut.
With the unprecedented consumer interest in flavored spirits in general, and vodka in particular, Burnett's is well-positioned to take advantage of the growth in both the domestic vodka category and flavored vodkas. The new Lime and Cranberry flavors are made using the same quadruple distillation process as the other varieties, providing the clarity and superior smoothness that has made Burnett's one of the country's top selling and fastest growing US bottled vodkas.
Available in 1.75 liter, 1.0 liter and 750 ml. sizes and bottled at 35% alcohol by volume (70 proof), Burnett's Lime and Cranberry flavors will be available on retail shelves by March 2004. "The addition of the Lime and Cranberry flavors will not only continue to fuel the meteoric growth of the Burnett's flavor line, but will also further raise the profile of the standard Burnett's Vodka brand," commented Reid Massie, brand manager for Burnett's at Heaven Hill. "Our research has shown that the substantial growth of our other six flavors has in no way cannibalized our business on the original Burnett's Vodka. And we expect that sales of the new Lime and Cranberry varieties will create more incremental growth, as these products perfectly meet the needs of today's consumers for high quality cosmopolitans, martinis, breezes and gimlets."
The launch of the two new flavors will be supported by POS for both floor displays and shelf facings, as well as sales education materials. The Burnett's website (www.burnettsvodka.com) will also provide information and appetizing drink recipes for all the flavors. The Lime and Cranberry Flavored Vodkas maintain the family look of the other Burnett's flavor varieties, with upscale, clear labels which graphically highlight the flavorings and support the brand positioning of "superior smoothness".
With domestic vodka growing about 2% last year and commanding 75% of the total vodka market share, and with flavored vodkas accounting for nearly 22% of category sales, Burnett's is unquestionably positioned for further growth. Heaven Hill, which purchased the worldwide rights to Burnett's from Diageo/Pernod Ricard in 2002, also plans to roll the new Burnett's flavors out to international markets, where the line has been very well-received.
